DESCRIPTION:Year 2 children have been learning all about Romans in history and to celebrate the end of our topic\, we would like to invite them to dress up in Roman outfits and take part in various Roman activities. \nThis could maybe be an oversized white t-shirt belted in the middle with a red scarf or piece of material as a sash if you have one\, with sensible shoes and a warm waterproof coat\, as they will be going outside throughout the day.   Please do not feel you need to go and buy anything for this day. \nThey will be taking part in Latin spellings and maths using Roman numerals\, with a tasting session taking place. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to share a special treat to start off the new term! On Tuesday 7 January 2025\, Year 2 children are invited to enjoy a live pantomime performance of ‘Snow White’ at Holmwood School and Nursery. \nInstead of taking the children to a theatre\, we’ve decided to bring the pantomime to us. This will allow the children to experience live theatre\, whilst keeping costs down and minimizing disruption to the school day. \nThe performance will be a fantastic way to introduce the children to classic fairy tales in a fun and engaging manner. DESCRIPTION:We look forward to sharing this special evening with you!  Arrangements will be as follows: \nPlease bring your child to school by 5:40pm wearing festive clothes e.g. Christmas jumpers\, hats\, headbands\, tinsel (as festive as possible). \nAll children will need to have a warm coat\, hat\, scarves\, gloves as they will be singing outside. \nChildren will enter via the school hall door and registers will be taken by class teachers. \nAfter dropping off your child\, please go to the playground\, where there will be hot chocolate\, coffee\, tea\, squash and mince pies for 50p each (please bring change). \nThe playground gates will open at 5:45pm and close promptly at 6pm. They will remain closed through the duration of the singing. \nClasses will come out to perform songs in their individual classes\, then as a whole year group \nOnce they have finished singing\, they will line up with their teachers\, so they can be handed back to their parents/carers (the same as home time). The whole event will be no more than 20 minutes. \nChildren will be making lanterns in school\, which they will be bringing home.

DESCRIPTION:We are excited to share with you that Year 1 children will be going on a special trip to the Royal and Derngate Theatre to see a performance of ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman’ on Wednesday 11 December! \nThis is a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience the magic of theatre and see a beloved story come to life. This visit ties in beautifully with our current English learning. The children are exploring the book ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman’ and learning about letter writing\, storytelling and the different characters in the book. DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to tell you that children in Year 2 will be having an Inspire Day on Monday 9 December. \nThey will be looking at a non-fiction text ‘The Night Animals’ over the next few weeks and as part of their Inspire Day\, we are inviting children to come to school in cosy pyjamas (appropriate for the weather) and to bring their slippers in a named carrier bag. \nWe will also be having hot chocolate and cookies.  Please speak to your child’s class teacher if you have any concerns regarding allergies \nAll children will still need to come to school a warm waterproof coat and sensible school shoes\, as they will still be going outside throughout the day.
