SUMMARY:Year 2 - 'Snow White' at Holmwood School
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to share a special treat to start off the new term! On Tuesday 7 January 2025\, Year 2 children are invited to enjoy a live pantomime performance of ‘Snow White’ at Holmwood School and Nursery. \nInstead of taking the children to a theatre\, we’ve decided to bring the pantomime to us. This will allow the children to experience live theatre\, whilst keeping costs down and minimizing disruption to the school day. \nThe performance will be a fantastic way to introduce the children to classic fairy tales in a fun and engaging manner. We believe this event will inspire their learning and creativity\, as they explore the world of fairy tales over the coming weeks. \nTo support the cost of the performance\, we kindly ask for a voluntary contribution of £4 per child\, in line with the governors’ charging policy.  If we do not receive enough contributions\, unfortunately\, we will not be able to proceed with the event. \nPlease complete payment and give your permission via MCAS in ‘Trips’. \nIf you are unable to pay or require support\, please contact the school office in confidence mmoore@ashbrookschool.net 01908 561366

SUMMARY:Year 1 Jolly Christmas Postman trip
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to share with you that Year 1 children will be going on a special trip to the Royal and Derngate Theatre to see a performance of ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman’ on Wednesday 11 December! \nThis is a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience the magic of theatre and see a beloved story come to life. This visit ties in beautifully with our current English learning. The children are exploring the book ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman’ and learning about letter writing\, storytelling and the different characters in the book. We believe this trip will not only enhance their understanding of the story\, but also inspire them to create their own letters and stories in the classroom. \nWe will depart from school at 9.00am and return by lunchtime.  We are asking for a voluntary contribution of £17.50 (to cover transport and ticket expenses in line with the governors charging policy). \nPlease make your payment and give your permission on MCAS in ‘Trips’. If you are unable to pay or require support\, please contact the school office in confidence mmoore@ashbrookschool.net 01908 561366.

SUMMARY:Year 2 visit to Cineworld in MK
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday 13th November 2024\, the Year 2 children will be visiting Cineworld\, in Milton Keynes to watch ‘Inside out 2’\, as part of World Kindness Day. As a school\, we are committed to fostering the wellbeing of our children. One of the approaches we use is the ‘colour monsters’ to help children understand and express their emotions. The animation reflects on the emotions through colours\, which will be a familiar concept for them.    \nWe will be leaving school at approximately 9:10 am  and returning to school for lunch at 12:30pm. Your child will need to be in full school uniform with suitable footwear and a waterproof coat.  \nThe children will be having popcorn and squash during the movie. If your child has any allergies\, please speak to their class teacher.  \nWe are asking for a voluntary contribution of £5 to cover the cost of the trip\, in line with our Governors charging policy. SUMMARY:Outdoor Classroom Day (all classes)
DESCRIPTION:Outdoor Classroom Day is a global movement to make time outdoors part of every child’s day. On two days of action each year\, teachers take children outdoors to play and learn. All year round\, the Outdoor Classroom Day community campaigns for more time outdoors every day. \nhttps://outdoorclassroomday.com/ \nChildren are spending less time outdoors than ever before and this is affecting their health\, wellbeing and development. Time outdoors – on Outdoor Classroom Day and every day – will make children happier and healthier\, as well as equipping them with the skills they need for life. \nAt Ashbrook School\, we have embarked on the OPAL project\, where we have more focus on the benefits of outdoor learning. The children will have a day of outdoor fun! \nIf you are interested in being part of this day and might like to support us\, then please speak to Mr Ainscow or Mrs Cobley (part of Ashbrook OPAL team).
