SUMMARY:Year 1 Jolly Christmas Postman trip
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to share with you that Year 1 children will be going on a special trip to the Royal and Derngate Theatre to see a performance of ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman’ on Wednesday 11 December! \nThis is a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience the magic of theatre and see a beloved story come to life. This visit ties in beautifully with our current English learning. The children are exploring the book ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman’ and learning about letter writing\, storytelling and the different characters in the book. We believe this trip will not only enhance their understanding of the story\, but also inspire them to create their own letters and stories in the classroom. \nWe will depart from school at 9.00am and return by lunchtime.  We are asking for a voluntary contribution of £17.50 (to cover transport and ticket expenses in line with the governors charging policy). \nPlease make your payment and give your permission on MCAS in ‘Trips’. If you are unable to pay or require support\, please contact the school office in confidence mmoore@ashbrookschool.net 01908 561366.

SUMMARY:Outdoor Classroom Day (all classes)
DESCRIPTION:Outdoor Classroom Day is a global movement to make time outdoors part of every child’s day. On two days of action each year\, teachers take children outdoors to play and learn. All year round\, the Outdoor Classroom Day community campaigns for more time outdoors every day. \nhttps://outdoorclassroomday.com/ \nChildren are spending less time outdoors than ever before and this is affecting their health\, wellbeing and development. Time outdoors – on Outdoor Classroom Day and every day – will make children happier and healthier\, as well as equipping them with the skills they need for life. \nAt Ashbrook School\, we have embarked on the OPAL project\, where we have more focus on the benefits of outdoor learning. The children will have a day of outdoor fun! \nIf you are interested in being part of this day and might like to support us\, then please speak to Mr Ainscow or Mrs Cobley (part of Ashbrook OPAL team).

SUMMARY:World Food Day 2024
DESCRIPTION:October 16 was designated for a significant reason: It’s the date that the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation was originally founded in 1945. Since then\, the Food and Agricultural Organisation (or FAO\, as it is often referred to) has been leading global efforts to end world hunger\, improve food security and improve global nutrition. \nWhat is this year’s World Food Day theme?\nThe theme for World Food Day 2024 is “Right to foods for a better life and a better future”. \nThis aims to highlight the immediate and long-term benefits of prioritising access to safe and nutritious food for all. \nEvery year since 1981\, a theme as been highlighted to concentrate efforts and provide a common focus for National Food Day activities. In 2023\, the theme focused on the impact water has on global food production: ”Water is life\, water is food. Leave no one behind.” \nPlease see letter sent via MCAS for further information.  This can also be found on the website in our Parent Hub tab in School Letters.
