SUMMARY:Year 2 Trip to Cadbury World [Be at school by 07:30]
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to share that our Year 2 children will be visiting Cadbury World on Tuesday 17 March 2026. This exciting trip links to their chocolate topic taking place in Spring term 2. \nDuring the visit\, children will take part in an educational talk called ‘Bean to Bar’ to learn how chocolate is made\, as well as enjoy a guided tour of the factory. They will also have access to all the fantastic activities Cadbury World has to offer. This trip has been hugely popular over the past two years and is often mentioned by children as one of their favourite school memories. \nThe coach will leave school at 7:45am. Please ensure your child arrives at school by 7:30am (we will not be able to wait for any children who arrive after this time).  We expect to arrive back to school at approximately 4.00pm. \nPlease provide a packed lunch or order a cheese sandwich packed lunch from ParentPay. \nWe kindly ask for a voluntary contribution of £25 per child (which can be paid in instalments) to help make this trip possible.  Unfortunately\, if we do not receive enough contributions by the payment deadline\, we will be unable to go ahead with the visit. \nIf you or a grandparent are able to help us for the day\, we would be very grateful! With the support of the teachers and members of staff\, helpers will be responsible for a small group of children for the duration of the trip.  If you are able to help\, please speak to your child’s class teacher. \nWe look forward to a wonderful day of learning and fun at Cadbury World! \n

SUMMARY:Mother's Day Afternoon
DESCRIPTION:We would be delighted to welcome one parent\, carer\, or family member to join us for a special Mother’s Day Afternoon on Friday 13 March\, from 2:15–3:00pm. The time is primarily for you to be with your child in school. Our parent feedback shows overwhelmingly that this is why you value the sessions. \nFoundation (Leopards and Elephants) \nPlease enter via the school hall door at 2.15pm.  Children will be performing a song for you before heading to the classrooms for craft activities. \nYear 1 & Year 2 (Zebras\, Giraffes\, Tigers\, Lions) \nPlease enter via the school office at 2.15pm and head straight to your child’s classroom for the craft activities. \nAt approximately 2:40pm parents will move out onto the playground (weather permitting)\, ready for the children to perform a song for you. \nPlease then remain on the playground whilst the teachers take classes back inside to get ready for home time at 3.10pm as normal. \nDue to limited space\, we can only accommodate one adult per child. Please do not bring any children or babies\, as we will be unable to admit them for health and safety reasons.

SUMMARY:Dress to Express Day
DESCRIPTION:On Friday 6th February\, we will be celebrating Dress to Express Day at Ashbrook. \nThis special day is part of Children’s Mental Health Week\, organised by Place2Be. The theme encourages children to express themselves\, celebrate who they are\, and understand that it is healthy to talk about feelings. We want every child to feel proud of their individuality and confident in showing what makes them unique. \n What is Dress to Express Day about? \n\nCelebrating individuality: Children can show their personality through their clothes\, favourite colours\, or cultural heritage.\nSupporting mental health: The day helps children understand that expressing themselves is positive and important for their wellbeing.\n\n What can children wear? \nYour child can choose any outfit that helps them express who they are (please ensure they are wearing sensible shoes and have a warm waterproof coat): \n\nA favourite outfit or colour\nTraditional cultural clothing\nClothes linked to hobbies or interests (e.g.\, football kits\, dance outfits\, superheroes)\nFun\, bright\, or wacky clothing\n\nThere is no expectation to buy anything new. Children are welcome to be as simple or as creative as they wish. \nThroughout the week beginning Monday 2nd February\, Ashbrook will be focusing on Children’s Mental Health through a range of activities in class. These will help children explore emotions\, build confidence\, and learn ways to look after their wellbeing. \nThank you for your continued support in helping us create a school where every child feels valued\, confident\, and able to express themselves.

SUMMARY:National Storytelling Week
DESCRIPTION:It’s National Storytelling Week! \nTo celebrate\, we would like to invite parents to record a story to share on Learning with Parents. This can be a video or an audio clip – just as you would normally record your child’s weekly reading. Families are welcome to share stories in a different language or from their home country. Videos can be sent in over the next 2 weeks. These videos will only be visible to class teachers\, so it would be wonderful to share them within our own classes\, if families choose to take part. \nThis is a fun and meaningful way to highlight the importance of reading\, while bringing our school community together.

SUMMARY:World Religion Day
DESCRIPTION:On Monday 19th January\, we will be celebrating World Religion Day. This is a day when people around the world learn about different religions and the values they share\, such as kindness\, respect\, and peace. \nWe would love our families to be part of this celebration. If you would like to share something about your religion\, culture\, or beliefs\, we warmly invite you to join us for our school assembly on this day. You can take part in any way that feels comfortable for you. You do not need to speak perfect English—your presence and your story are what matter most. If you would like support with translation or preparing what to share\, please let us know and we will be happy to help. \nWe hope this event will help our children understand and appreciate the many different religions represented in our school and see how these differences can bring us together. \nIf you would like to take part\, please contact the school office contact@ashbrookschool.net or speak to Mrs Begum. \nThank you for helping us make our school a place where everyone feels they belong.

SUMMARY:Pantomime visiting school
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to share a special treat to start off the new term! On Tuesday 6 January 2026\, children are invited to enjoy a live pantomime performance of ‘Cinderella’  in school. \nInstead of taking the children to a theatre\, we’ve decided to bring the pantomime to us. This will allow the children to experience live theatre\, whilst keeping costs down and minimising disruption to the school day. \nThe performance will be a fantastic way to introduce the children to classic fairy tales in a fun and engaging way. \nTo support the cost of the performance\, we kindly ask for a voluntary contribution of £5 per child\, in line with the governors’ charging policy.  If we do not receive enough contributions\, unfortunately\, we will not be able to proceed with the event. \nPlease complete payment and give your permission via MCAS in ‘Store’. \nIf you are unable to pay or require support\, please contact the school office in confidence contact@ashbrookschool.net 01908 561366
