DESCRIPTION:We are excited to inform you that a visit to ZSL Whipsnade Zoo has been scheduled for Year 2 children on Wednesday 5th June 2024. \nThis visit has been planned to enhance our learning of Africa in our geography lessons during the summer term. The students will get the chance to observe a wide variety of wild animals from Africa up close\, including lions\, giraffes\, zebras\, and many more. The visit promises to be an exciting and educational experience for the children\, and we cannot wait to see the joy on their faces as they explore the wonders of the animal kingdom. \nThe departure from school will be at 9:10am\, and we aim to return by 3.00pm\, travelling both ways by coach. \nTo cover the cost of the trip\, we are asking for a voluntary contribution of £18 per child\, in line with the Governors charging policy\, which includes coach travel and entry to the park for the day. \nPlease give your permission and make your payment via your ParentMail account by Monday 27th May 2024 at the latest.  Please go to ‘Payments’ and then select ‘Shop’ at the bottom of the screen. There is an option to pay in three instalments if this is easier for you. \nIt is important to note that no child will be excluded due to inability or unwillingness to pay. However\, if the contributions received are not enough to cover the cost\, the trip may be cancelled. \nAll children will require a disposable packed lunch and disposable water bottle. \nIf you have ordered any of the menu selections on Parentpay for Wednesday 5 June\, your child will automatically be provided with a cheese roll packed lunch to take with them. \nIf you have not ordered a school meal for this day\, please send in a packed lunch from home\, including a drink (no glass bottles\, sweets or chocolates) in a named carrier bag\, which will all be thrown away after lunch. \nOn the day of the visit\, your child must be in full school uniform with trainers/comfortable shoes.  Please apply sun cream before school and ensure that your child has a named sun hat. \nChildren will not need any spending money. \nIf you have any further questions or concerns about the trip\, please contact us.

DESCRIPTION:We are very excited to be welcoming Commonwealth Games athlete\, Nerys Pearce to Ashbrook School on Friday 3 May 2024. \nNerys Pearce has competed in powerlifting\, swimming\, athletics\, rowing\, and wheelchair basketball at the Invictus Games winning 10 medals and came fourth in the Commonwealth Games. \nShe will be leading a sponsored fitness circuit with all the children\, followed by a talk and question and answer session. The event aims to inspire the children to be more physically active and just as importantly\, encourage them to discover and pursue their passion in life or as Nery’s motto states ‘be better tomorrow than you are today’. \nThis is also an opportunity to connect the children to an extraordinary athlete role model and raise money to improve physical activity for the school\, whilst also supporting GB athletes including Paralympic athletes. \nSponsorship forms will be coming home in book bags today\, to help your child to raise money for the event. You can also sponsor your child by going to www.sportsforschools.org and clicking on “Set up a fundraiser page”. \nWhen searching for our school\, begin to type the school’s name or postcode and our school will come up. \nPlease ensure that sponsorship forms and money are returned to the school office one week after the event has taken place on Friday 10 May. \nPlease also make sure that your child comes to school on Friday 3 May dressed in their PE Kit.
