DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday 16th April\, we would like to invite all the children to come to school dressed in celebration clothes if they wish. Many of our families have been celebrating Eid ul Fitr following the month of Ramadan and we would like to come together as a whole school to think about how different festivals are celebrated. \nCelebration clothes can be any cultural outfit worn for festivals and important events or clothes that are worn for special occasions\, events and birthdays. \nChildren will need to wear sensible shoes and coats\, as they will be going outside. SUMMARY:West End in Schools - storytelling and drama workshops
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to share with you that as part of our World Book Day celebrations\, West End in Schools theatre company will be visiting Ashbrook School on Monday 26 February. West End in Schools provide the fantastic opportunity of delivering storytelling and drama workshops that are run by trained actors. \n“West End in Schools offers pantomimes\, dance and drama workshops\, musical theatre shows\, and Shakespeare workshops to primary schools all over the UK\, as well as Shakespeare workshops for secondary schools. \nWe’re the only school theatre company with trained actors drawn from the world of London’s West End theatre. \nOur team includes performers who have sung in musicals such as Wicked and Matilda\, danced in Chicago and Shrek\, and acted on the stages of the National Theatre and the Donmar Warehouse. Over the last few years they have worked with and performed to well over a million children.” \nTo bring their learning to life\, each class will be taking part in an interactive 40-minute session that will focus on the story telling. The children will use drama exercises and activities to imagine and explore the characters\, context and topics from new perspectives. During the sessions\, the children will look at the story as a whole before delving into the story’s setting and imagining how the characters move\, feel and think. \nIn order for us to take part in this exciting and enriching day\, we are asking for a voluntary contribution of £3.00 per child.  Please make your payment via your ParentMail account.

DESCRIPTION:We hope you are able to join us for our Ashbrook parents and carers coffee morning.  Once the children are all settled in school we will be having a phonics demonstration lesson. \n\n\nThe purpose of this session is to provide parents with valuable insights into the Read Write Inc. phonics programme that our children receive at school. Phonics is a crucial aspect of early literacy development\, and we believe that a strong foundation in phonics is key to enhancing your child’s reading and writing skills. \n\n\nDuring the demonstration\, which will take place in the school hall\, our experienced staff will conduct three interactive phonics sessions\, showcasing the techniques and strategies we use to help students grasp the fundamentals of phonics. By attending\, you will gain a deeper understanding of how phonics is integrated into our curriculum and discover ways to support your child’s learning journey at home. \nDemonstrations will include: \n\nLevel A/B (Focus on supporting early readers)\nDitty and Red level (Foundation children expected level for end of spring 1)\nPink/Orange level (Year 1 expected level for the end of spring 1)\n\nThis range of sessions will look at Fred frog\, blending\, green/red words\, pinching sounds and how lessons are broken down for the children. \n\nWe recognise the important role parents play in their children’s education\, and this session aims to strengthen the partnership between home and school. Your active participation will not only enhance your understanding of phonics but also empower you to actively engage in your child’s literacy development. \nWe look forward to your presence at the Phonics Demonstration Session. The week is all about making sure children and young people feel supported and heard\, so they can express themselves freely. \nThe theme for this year is “My Voice Matters\,” It is about empowering children and young people by providing them with the tools they need to be able to express themselves. When children feel supported\, it has a positive impact on their well-being. \nTo celebrate\, we have organized some fun activities for the children.
