DESCRIPTION:We are excited to inform you that the Year 2 children will have the opportunity to attend the National Book Show on Monday 20 October. The coach will depart from school at 10:30am and we will return by 12:30pm\, in time for lunch. \nThis year\, the event will be led by the well-known author Mariesa Dulak\, who will share her experience of being an author and inspire our young readers. As a special treat\, all children will receive a free copy of one of her books to take home. \nTo make this trip possible\, we kindly ask for a contribution of £13.50 per child. Unfortunately\, if we do not receive enough contributions\, we will be unable to proceed with the trip. DESCRIPTION:As part of our English lessons\, Year 1 children will be having a Super Hero Day on Friday 19 September. We will be discussing all the super powers that we have ourselves and also the super powers of super heroes. \nThere is absolutely no expectation for parents to buy costumes. The day will be packed with fun activities\, including making superhero masks and capes for the children to wear. If your child would like to come dressed as a superhero\, that’s absolutely fine too! DESCRIPTION:Year 2 children will be exploring some of the wildlife that lives in our city\, as well as learning about a few simple ideas that can be implemented to make the local area a happy and safe place for creatures to live in. \nWe are very lucky to have so many wonderful green spaces around us and the children will be using this visit to understand how they can play a greater role in keeping it clean and how we need to respect our planet. \nThe two classes will be going at different times during the day to get the most out of their experience. \nTigers class will aim to leave by 9:10am. The walk should take no more than 20 minutes\, and we aim to be back before lunch by 11:15am. \nLions class will aim to leave by 1:10pm and get back by 2:45pm \nTo enable the trip to go ahead\, we would like to request a voluntary contribution of £4 and permission to be given via MCAS please in ‘Events’. \nChildren will need to wear school uniform\, a sun hat or waterproof coat\, depending on the weather and comfortable shoes/trainers. \nIf you are able to support us with this trip\, please speak to the Year 2 team.  If you have any questions\, please contact Mrs Begum mbegum@ashbrookschool.net
