Welcome to Leopards Class
The children have settled in very well and are learning our rules and routines. To start this term, we had a week based on Owl Babies. We looked at Mrs Watkins’ Tawny Owl and painted shapes on paper to represent the body and head. When they were dry we stuck on feathers, eyes, beaks and talons. They are proudly on display in the corridor.
Our stories have been ‘My Mum and Dad make me laugh’, ‘The Ugly Duckling’ and ‘The Rainbow Fish’. Our activities have been based around these books, as well as looking at ourselves and noticing similarities and differences.
The focus in Maths has been number. We have been counting and recognising numbers to 20. We have learnt how to order Numicon and have started writing our own addition sums.
We have started our daily Phonics lessons which concentrate on learning the letter sounds and names. We have also been writing sounds and words ensuring they are formed correctly, alongside the children learning to write their name.
The children have all brought home a reading book and a reading record book, please ensure you listen to your child read and fill in the reading record book, so we know they have read at home with you, then return to school on a daily basis please.
We are looking forward to our new topic next term, which is all about food and festivals. If you have any photos that you would like to share then please send them in with your child when we return, so they can talk about them ie; Diwali, Firework night, Christmas and Remembrance Sunday.
