Our Childhood Pledge

We pledge to all our children that we will provide specific memorable experiences and opportunities throughout their time at school that allows them to grow into well rounded citizens who can succeed as individuals and contribute to their society.

 

Throughout their school journey your child will take part in activities linked to the following areas: The Arts, Life Skills, Being Active, Culture and Heritage, Environment, Citizenship, making visits and/or learning from visitors, the IFtL Community.

IFTL Childhood Pledge

Citizenship

The IFTL Childhood Pledge will support me to engage with others, to develop my understanding of my community and allow me to be a responsible and active citizen.

Environment

The IFTL Childhood Pledge will support me to know how to look after the world I live in.  I will understand the impact I can have on the world around me and I will strive to care for and protect our planet.

  • Every child will have the opportunity to plant something in the local environment
  • Every child will have the opportunity to raise money for local and National charities
  • Every child will have the opportunity to take part in road safety events
  • Every child will have the opportunity visit elderly citizens  
  • Every child will have the opportunity to represent  or share views with the School Council
  • Every child will have the opportunity take care of living creatures
  • Every child will have the opportunity take part in forest fun
  • Every child will have the opportunity watch caterpillars and plants grow
  • Every child will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of re-cycling projects
  • Every child will have the opportunity to build a den

Culture/Heritage

The IFTL Childhood Pledge will support me to have an understanding and appreciation of where I belong within my community, my past, the values and beliefs of others and how all of this impacts on my future.

Visits/Visitors

The IFTL Childhood Pledge will support me to experience a range of adventures which will broaden my knowledge and understanding of the people and places around me.  I will welcome visitors into my learning environment and engage with the wider community through visits, making memories along the way.

  • Every child will have the opportunity to walk around our local area
  • Every child will have the opportunity to learn about a an important person and what they did
  • Every child will have the opportunity to learn about their own and others cultures
  • Every child will have the opportunity to raise money for local and National charities
  • Every child will have the opportunity to collect, and donate food to others
  • Every child will have the opportunity to visit the local park
  • Every child will have the opportunity to go on a coach trip
  • Every child will have the opportunity to experience a variety of visitors including scientists, authors, sports people and artists
  • Every child will have the opportunity to take part in trips to places of interest for example a museum, gallery or a castle that are linked to their learning

 Active

The IFTL Childhood Pledge will support me to live an active and flourishing lifestyle so I can make informed and healthy decisions that have a positive effect on my own life and of those around me.

Arts

The IFTL Childhood Pledge will support me to explore my creativity and imagination whilst allowing me to develop my confidence through the enjoyment of the arts.

  • Every child will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of sports including football, dance and gym
  • Every child will have the opportunity to grow and tend to a variety of fruit and vegetables
  • Every child will have the opportunity to take part in 30 minutes of physical activity a day
  • Every child will have the opportunity to ride a bike or scooter
  • Every child will have the opportunity to perform on stage
  • Every child will have the opportunity to make a leaf for the school tree sculpture
  • Every child will have the opportunity to look at art in the local area
  • Every child will have the opportunity to dress up and visit an imaginary world
  • Every child will have the opportunity to produce art work that is displayed
  • Every child will have the opportunity to recite poetry

Life Skills

The IFTL Childhood Pledge will support me to learn about money, how to save and spend money sensibly.  It helps me to develop my life skills which help me to contribute to my family, learning how to look after myself.

IFTL Community

The IFTL Childhood Pledge will support me to work alongside my peers within my own school as well as schools throughout the Trust.  We will celebrate each other’s achievements and share our learning journey together.

  • Every child will have the opportunity to learn how to be independent with all their belongings
  • Every child will have the opportunity to make food to share
  • Every child will have the opportunity to solve a problem with their friends
  • Every child will have the opportunity to understand and follow the school values
  • Every child will have the opportunity to understand and follow the British values
  • Every child will have the opportunity to raise money for a charity
  • Every child will have the opportunity to write to another child in a different school setting
  • Every child will have the opportunity to take part in a sporting event at another IFTL school
