Ashbrook Community Recognition Awards 2025
We are so very proud of our school community. In July 2025, we asked for our community to nominate pupils, staff and people from our whole school community who have made Ashbrook School the special place it is. Enjoy reading about all the wonderful people recognised below. They are in no particular order and each one is very special to read. Thank you to everyone who contributed.
Congratulations to Miss Woolridge
Foundation teacher
I would like to nominate my daughter’s teacher because of the exceptional dedication, care, and positive impact she has made on my child’s education and personal growth. She goes above and beyond not just to teach, but to truly connect with her students, making learning engaging, inclusive, and enjoyable. Her patience, consistency, and encouragement have helped build my daughter’s confidence and love for learning. She creates a supportive environment where every child feels seen, heard, and valued. It’s clear that her work is driven by genuine passion and a deep commitment to the success and well-being of her students. For these reasons, I believe she deserves to be recognized and appreciated for the outstanding role she plays in shaping young minds.
She’s a tremendous teacher and Irtiza is always talking about her at home. All other teachers are also pretty good but we think Miss Woolridge has played an important role in my Irtiza’s grooming.
I have nominated Miss Woolridge as She made a positive impact for my son and supported him while he was studying in Foundation.
Miss Woolridge has been incredibly kind and supportive to Sophie, becoming a true source of comfort as she adjusted to starting school. What began as a fearful and uncertain time for Sophie quickly turned into a joyful experience – she now looks forward to school every day, excited to see Miss Woolridge. We are truly grateful for the care, patience, and genuine warmth Miss Woolridge shows Sophie.
My daughter feels safe and her confidence has grown so much.
Commend her for her outstanding teaching methods and proficiency and their meticulous care for children’s emotions.
Miss Woolridge has been the reason our little boy gets up each morning to go to school. On the days where he has not felt like showing up, she always manages to bring a smile to his face and made him feel welcome and enthusiast about school. Offering comfort and a cuddle when he is sad or missing home, knowing the right way to talk to him if he’s having a hard time adjusting. Her loving and kind nature shines through with all of the children everyday and I believe that he would not have flourished the way he has in his first year if she had not been his teacher. If there was a concern raised she always knew how to put us at ease and we knew that it would be dealt with, with care and consideration for his and our needs. Miss Woolridge is a wonderful teacher and I am so grateful that she has been at Ashbrook to nurture my son through one of the most difficult transitions.
She is very caring and helpful.
Congratulations to Mrs Raval
SEND Teaching Assistant in Foundation
Commend her for her outstanding teaching skills and her meticulous care for children’s emotions.
Congratulations to Mrs Cameron
SEND Teaching Assistant in Key Stage 1
Mrs Cameron is a very special lady who is always full of warmth for all children and parents. The children love her and her dedication to making them laugh and smile and experience joy is highly appreciated. Her sunny personality and array of wonderful costumes will be missed when my child moves on from Ashbrook. Keep smiling Mrs Cameron, you make the whole world smile with you!
For her initiative in contacting multiple vendors to bring the community together.
Ms Cameron always brings smiles to our faces, especially when she dresses up at special occasions. Thank you 🥰
She is helpful and she is funny especially when she dresses up on the playground! 😂
Always going above and beyond for the wellbeing of the school pupils. Caring and always trying to make people around her confortable with her kind words and reassuring behaviour during and even outside the school hours. Thank you, Miss Cameron.
Congratulations to Mr Ainscow
Headteacher
Being the most incredible headmaster they have had. I’m very glad Layla had the time and honor to be under him in her lastyear. The school itself has become better since he has been in charge. The communication rhe support the events under Jamie has been incredible.
Congratulations to Mrs Karavadra
SENDCO
Ms. Karavadra put so much effort into getting EHCP support for my son. Despite failure in first attempt she continued to try for him and gave her very best in securing a EHCP for our child. This support is life changing for our child with special needs which will allow our son to continue his learning at school. We are beyond thankful to Ms. Karavadra.
Congratulations to Mrs Mody
SEND Teaching Assistant in Key Stage 1
Thank you for always helping me with my work. You are very kind and helpful. I will never forget you. Mila.
Congratulations to Miss Hodgkins
Class teacher in Year 1
Most responsible teacher and true to her profession. Her kindess, gestures, positive attitude, gifts and her smile is the reason why every child loves to go to school. She has a supernatural power to connect with every and any child. Love and respect to her always!
She has gone above and beyond her job role and really supported my daughter Daisy with some personal difficulties. Her support throughout has been fantastic and we are very grateful.
Congratulations to Jennifer Stevens
Parent
Meeting Jennifer when our children Hollie and Harley swapped unicorn toys in Reception was the best thing to happen. We have become the bestest friends, we have climbed to the summit of snowdon together and raised £471 for the mental health Charity Mind. We go camping as one big family with all of our children and we have managed to give our children more memory’s since being friends. Lots of places visited together and many more to come. Thank you
Congratulations to Mrs Huntford and Mrs ‘Kayoko’ Yamashita
Class teachers in Giraffes this year
They both are kind and give the best cuddles!
Congratulations to Mrs Begum
Class teacher in Year 2 and Key Stage 1 Leader
I am nominating Mrs. Begum not only because my child thoroughly enjoyed having her as a class teacher, but also because she has consistently been at the forefront of school events, such as Sports Day and other important activities. In a time of high staff turnover, it’s especially commendable that she has remained committed and continued to be a positive presence at the school.
Evelyn had many teachers during her time in reception and Year 1, so we were delighted that Mrs Begum was her sole teacher for Year 2. Evelyn’s confidence and love of school flourished this year, largely due to Mrs Begum. Thank you.
Her positive attitude towards children and parents.
Congratulations to Mrs Ferguson ‘Miss Cheryl’
Pastoral Support Officer
Since my daughter Naila started working with Mrs Cherly in her well-being session, Naila confidence has grown tremendously, able to express herself and especially knowing how to manage her emotions. Great work from Mrs Cheryl.
Congratulations to Mrs Cobley
Foundation Stage Teacher and Leader
She is an amazing teacher, and this can be seen by the amount of children who are so excited to see her both current and former students. She is highly regarded amongst parents as being supportive of not only their child’s learning but also supportive of their roles as parents within their educational career too. Its rare to come across someone who seems to be born to be a teacher, but having had the experience of having her as my child’s reception teacher I have seen how suited to the role she is and how much of a positive impact she makes in children’s (and their parents) lives.
Excellent teacher for Georgina when she just started school (reception).
Hitha admires cobley so much .. Mrs Cobley is always supportive kind and caring of Elephants students.
She is a wonderful person with so much patience, love and handles students very well. Devanshika lover her teacher a lot and she is definitely going to miss her.
Congratulations to Mrs McGovern
Teaching Assistant
We were touched to see how Mrs McGovern has been so kind and supportive to my son, despite the challenges he presents. He talks about her frequently at home. His studies have also progressed well with her dedicated support.
…and last but not least…
Congratulations to Mrs Kelly, Mrs Moore, Mr Barsi and Mrs Barsi
