Year 1 Swimming Lessons Start

As part of our commitment to providing diverse and enriching experiences for our children, Year 1 and Year 2 will have swimming lessons at Holmwood School & Nursery through the Pop-Up Pool Programme, during the school day.

This will help children to prepare for their swimming lessons in Key Stage Two, as the national requirement is that all children should be able to swim 25m by the end of Year 6. The lessons will take place from Monday 23 February until Friday 7 March. The schedule for swimming lessons is as follows:

• Year 1: Monday and Tuesday mornings – 23 and 24 February, 2 and 3 March
• Year 2: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday mornings – 25, 26, 27 February and 4, 5, and 6 March

Timetables will be confirmed when we have grouped the children by ability. Please complete this form Swimming Information Form by Friday 13 February.

Each lesson will be 30 minutes long. In order to support this programme, we are asking for a voluntary contribution to cover part of the cost. This will be £10 for Year 2 children and £7 for Year 1 children. The majority of the cost will be paid by the school.

Please ensure your child brings a swimming costume, towel, a swim hat and any other necessary swimming accessories on their lesson days. Allocated changing spaces will be within Holmwood School and children will be supported if needed when getting dressed after their lesson.
