Rocksteady in full swing
There was no mistaking the buzz in the hall today as children from across the school took to the hall for their latest Rocksteady sessions — and the excitement was infectious.
Children have been “counting down the days” to their Rocksteady slot, with some practising air guitar in the playground and others discussing their band names at break times. Once the music began, even the shyest pupils stepped forward, transforming into bold performers ready to show what they could do.
I really like singing. Today we were singing Shotgun. Chris and Ben are really musical. I’m the vocalist. (Ruby, Year 1)
Mr Ainscow, who dropped in was struck by the children’s teamwork and focus. Whether on keyboard, drums, vocals, or guitar, every child had a moment to shine — and the smiles from their classmates said it all.
Rocksteady has quickly become a highlight of the week, giving pupils a chance to express themselves, build confidence, and experience the thrill of performing as part of a real band.
I really like the sound of c-sharp because it sounds great. It’s not basic! (Elizabeth, Year 2)
With enthusiasm this strong, the future of music at our school looks louder, prouder, and more joyful than ever.

It was nice. I like the two middle drums. (Smaragda, Year 2)
