Visit to Ashbrook from IFtL Leaders
On Monday 15th September Sarah Bennett, the CEO of our academy trust, Inspiring Futures through Learning visited Ashbrook. The visited provided an opportunity for Mrs Bennett to see the children settled and learning across our six classes. Mr Ainscow showed the areas of school which have had significant investment as part of our building summer works programmme (including refreshed flooring and decoration in Foundation, new doors and shared space improvements in Key Stage 1 and further redecorating throughout).
Mrs Bennett met with Mrs Antac, Ms Zubairi and Mrs Newstead, our new teaching staff. ‘Together’ is one of our IFtL trust wide values and was a fitting way to talk about how we collaborate and work across our family of schools.
Isabel Parker, our school improvement partner, was also in meeting with children and staff across Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2. Part of the visit was used for reflecting on the ongoing improvements in our end of year data, where there has been a three-year trend in improved outcomes for children where we remain above national. This is something that we are very proud of and demonstrates our commitment to high quality education for all of our children.
Over the summer we made some changes to the spaces used in school and have introduced a room ‘The Hub’. This room, in Key Stage 1 is used for small group work and interventions for children in reading, writing and maths, but also provides a space for pastoral support and well-being groups. We are excited to have this new space in addition to ‘The Cove’ for specialist support and our sensory room.
